Course Title: ONB-108 CONCEPT OF DHRUPAD IN INDIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC

Objective:To understand the significance and concept of Indian classical music through dialogue and demonstration. Emphasis will be on DHRUPAD – one of the ancient style of singing/playing the Indian classical music. This is an introductory course that invites participants to the beauty and variations of India’s traditional music using one music school (Gharana) as its focus of attention.
Session:
Using the Guru-shishya parampara, the course will demonstrate and explicate the concept of the Dagarvani school of music. The treatment and depth of elaboration of the concept will depend on the participants and their response. The themes would include Aalaap, Jod, Jhala, Composition, Practice, Presentation, etc.

Assessment: will be decided by Ustad Dagar.
Course pre-requisites: No prior knowledge of Music is necessary.
Who can register: Any student of Goa University is welcome to register. The course has a value of one credit which can be availed by the students.
Any interested person from the public can also join the course. All such participants will be issued a Participation Certificate.
