    Introduction.

     

    This course is the eleventh edition of Music in Dialogue with Western Philosophy,  History and Arts. This course seeks to understand the practice and technique of the choral western music tradition, seeking to understand the real meaning of the human need to express their living experiences through the act of singing. Structured in 4 modules and 1 practical performance, this course offers the students to be part of a very dynamic and nourish educational experience by participating in the regular activities of the GU CHOIR. During the schedule modules Professor Dr. Santiago Lusardi will guide and train the students in the art of choral singing and the history and meanings of this millennial tradition.

     

    This course will also dissert about the ideas and evolution of the choral music parameters through the analysis of different pieces of the corpus of the contemporary music tradition from west. In this set of courses under the name of Music in Dialogue with Western Philosophy, History and Arts we assume the goal to be to study the foundations of Western Music through the  analysis of different works and composers, studying them both, theoretically and practically, including also the analysis of the elements that constitute them.

     

    Structure of the course

    • 5 modules with 14 classes of 90 minutes sessions: Total 24 hours

    • Conference I: Historical Review
    • Activities 1 & 2: Perception and Appreciation of the musical phenomena of singing: Analysis of the sound structure phenomena. Introduction to the concepts of resonance and timbre in the voice. The inner world: the perception of your own sound
