    Jeet Thayil to be back in Goa University for Literature Chair

    Under the Bakibab Borkar Chair for Comparative Literature launched by GoaUniversity,  Jeet Thayil, author of the novel Narcopolis and several volumes of poetry, will conduct a “Poetry Workshop” where budding poets can discuss their own work and poetry lovers can appreciate poetry in English through performance poetry.   This course is open to the general public.

    The course will be held from 5th Jan to 8th  Jan 2015 from 5 to 7.30  pm . There is no fee for the course which will be held in the Lecture hall of the Department of Art and Culture in Patto, Panjim. .  For details see website www.unigoa.in/vrpp . Those who write poetry are requested to upload one of their poems on the site or send it to [email protected] latest by 2nd January, 2015.

    COURSE INSTRUCTOR:  Jeet Thayil, visiting chair professor, Kavivarya Bakibab Borkar Chair in Comparative Literature; Lecturer,  Asian American Writer’s Workshop (New York); Visiting Lecturer, CEPT ( Ahmedabad).

    OBJECTIVE: To understand the formal life of the poem from discussions of poems written by local poets and an introduction to performance poetry.  For the interested beginners and the advanced practitioner.

    COURSE PRE-REQUISITES: An interest in reading and writing  poetry in English.

    WHO CAN REGISTER: Lectures and performances are open to the public.
